Order of the Sleepless Knights

The home of the Central Wisconsin Order of the Sleepless Knights Parrot Head Club. Please feel free to look around just as long as you don’t let any gypsies into the palace. It took us weeks to get rid of the last group. 

But seriously we are a local chapter of Parrot Heads in Paradise a non-profit organization whose purpose is to assist in community outreach programs and to provide for its members a means for people who enjoy Jimmy Buffett’s music and tropical spirit to meet regularly and to enjoy life. Our motto is “Wrong Latitude Right Attitude”. This is in keeping with the goals of all Parrot Head clubs of providing volunteer support for local and environmental concerns, as well as hosting assorted social activities for people with similar tastes and interests. As you’ll see in the following pages, we volunteer our time and money in many different areas of the community and have fun doing it.

    Well it is that time again.  Time to get your four-some together and come play a little golf.  On Saturday, July 12th we will again be holding our annual charity golf outing for local children’s charities.  Just like in the past, the event will be held at the Wisconsin River Golf Course in Stevens Point, with the post-party at Opi’s Sports Bar/5-Star Lanes in Plover.  Last Year we raised over $6500, uping our grand total to over $27,000 in 8 years of charity golf outings and dart tournaments.  Just like in the past the cost remains $60 per person prior to the June 22nd early bird cutoff date and $70 per person afterwards.  Last year for the second straight year we reached our limit of 144 golfers, so if you are interested please sign up quickly. We currently have 120 golfer signed up, with spots for just 24 golfers (6 teams) remaining. The outing will remain a 4-person scramble with a shotgun start at Noon.  Registration at the course will be at 11:00 AM - 11:45.  If you would like a copy of the registration form CLICK HERE.  I look forward to seeing you all here again this year.

    On Friday April 18th @ 8:30 PM, Jim Karol brings his Psychic Madman magic and comedy show to Stevens Point. For the first time ever, Jim will appear live in Wisconsin at Skipp’s Bowling Center - Ballroom.  Jim was recently on NBC’s “Phenomenon” show.  He has also been seen on Jackass 2 - The Movie, The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno, The Today Show, Ellen Degeneras, The Rosie O’Donell Show, Montel Williams and many more.  He has also been heard on radio programs that include The Howard Stern Show, Breuer Unleashed, Coast to Caost AM w/ George Noory and others.  Jim has performed over 3,000 University and College shows, plus other corporate and charity events.  Recently he was the Master of Ceremonies for the NFL Super Bowl Award Ceremony and performed at the Playboy Mansion.  Jim has agreed to donate $3 of every ticket on that night to local charities of our choice.  The cost of the ticket will be $30 for a Reserved Table Seating and $20 for General Admission prior to the date of the show and $35 & $25 the day of the event and at the door.  I have talked to a couple club members about this already.  We may need a couple people to help the night of the event - checking ids or selling tickets.  Other than that, all we have to do is help get some posters out about the event and just help get the word out about it by word of mouth and emailing friends.  Budweiser has also agreed to help out.  They will print the signs, posters and tickets.  They may also have a Bud Light VIP Section in which they will be giving away tickets to prior to the show.  Tickets are on sale now and the reserved tickets are going fast.  If you are interested in getting a full table of 8 people or just one or two seats at a table get them soon. The reserved table seats are on sale at Skipps Bowling Center in Stevens Point, while the general admission tickets are on sale at Skipp’s and 5-Star Lanes in Plover.   If you have any questions, would like to help out, or would like more info about tickets please call Tom @ 715-342-1350. The Order of the Sleepless Knights meet every second Tuesday of the month starting at 7:00 PM at Middletown Grill located at 2301 Church St. Stevens Point WI. At the Business meetings everything from the Happy Hour locations and times to charity events are discussed and voted on. Every member of the Order can participate and is encourage to attend. The more the merrier.

     Just a reminder to everyone that we will be bowling on Saturday, February 16th at 5-Star Lanes in Plover.  We will start bowling at about 8:00 PM.  Prior to bowling, Budweiser will be bringing in some of the new “Land Shark Lager” for a tasting so feel free to show up early.  We can have our own form of a Feeding (or drinking) Frenzy!  This is just for fun, so it doesn’t matter how well you bowl, just stop down and have some fun.
